Candle Care & Troubleshooting
The First Burn is the Most Important On the very first use, let the candle burn long enough for the entire top layer of wax to melt all the way to the edges of the container. This creates a full melt pool and prevents "tunneling," which can shorten the life of your candle.
Trim Your Wick Before each use, trim the wick to about 1/4 inch (6mm). This helps the candle burn more cleanly and prevents it from producing black soot, a large flame, or excess smoke.
Burn Safely
-
Always burn your candle on a stable, heat-resistant surface, away from drafts.
-
Keep the candle away from children, pets, and flammable objects.
-
Never leave a burning candle unattended.
Know When to Stop Stop using your candle when there is only 1/2 inch of wax left at the bottom. Continuing to burn it past this point can cause the container to overheat and potentially crack.
Relight Your Dessert Candle
Because our dessert candles are topped with decorative wax embeds, the wicks may occasionally get smothered and extinguish on their first burn. If your wick goes out:
-
Safety First: Carefully extinguish the flame (if still lit) and wait for the wax to cool slightly.
-
Clear the Wick: Use a paper towel or a small spoon to gently scoop or push away the excess wax that is surrounding the wick. This creates a small "pool" for the wick to breathe.
-
Relight: Once the wick has more space, you can easily relight your candle and let it burn as usual.
By following these simple steps, you can ensure a beautiful and long-lasting burn.
Wet Spots
Wax expands and contracts from the sides of the jar with temperature fluctuations. This will not affect your candle.
Wax Turning Yellow
This is a normal occurrence in some chemical-free fragrance oils and does not affect your candle.
